BRC Engines is a start-up company formed in 2018 to develop a new ZERO Emission engine conversion system for existing vehicles/machinery to run on FREE site produced hydrogen fuel. Fuel production will be automatic using solar or wind power. We are working towards conversion systems where consumers can switch back to conventional fuel if they are out of range of their home supply.
Our first product line will be an affordable Off Grid energy system with abundant storage capabilities. A single cylinder BRC Engine will provide standby power, using the stored fuel, when the renewable supply falls short. Increasing energy storage will be as simple as adding more tanks.
We have met with investors who want to source manufacturing overseas however we are driven to bring career opportunities and prosperity back to Regional Australia. We have a distributed manufacturing model that will engage existing local businesses as our footprint and product lines grow. Australia currently has 19.5 million registered vehicles. The employment prospects just in fitting future conversion kits to 5% of the National fleet are mind boggling.
To date we have been self-funded and have recently achieved another operational Proof Of Concept. THE BRC ENGINES STORY
“Early 2017, tired of the growing number of foreign companies riding the wave of climate change to sell Australian resources back to Australians, I started investigating how we could regain control of our own future. Fuel and energy prices were going through the roof so that seemed like a logical place to start. Was there an affordable practical way to convert renewable energy into fuel and use it as required?
The solution I was looking for had to reduce costs, be zero emission and had to be robust and able to stand up to Australian conditions. The Regions of Australia are struggling to hold their own so creating Regional jobs was another significant design parameter. Imagine the ongoing benefits if we could save Australian families and businesses money with a solution that created Regional employment across Australia – WOW!
I came up with an idea, did some preliminary testing, formed a company, filed a Provisional Patent Application and dedicated myself to the cause.”

This first little engine is a Proof Of Concept that existing engines can be converted to run with our new engine cycle. A wide range of engines; stationary and mobile, big and small, diesel, petrol, gas, can be converted to produce Zero Emissions and run on FREE site-produced Hydrogen fuel.
This first engine is also a prototype of the engine/generator that will be THE key component for a new Off Grid Energy Storage System, BRC Engines is developing.
The new storage system will use excess renewable energy to produce and store hydrogen fuel on site. As user demands overtake the renewable supply, the BRC Engine/generators will automatically start converting the stored fuel supply into power. Depending on tank options, we expect the initial systems will store somewhere between 60kWhr to 100kWhr of abundant renewable energy allowing users to maintain a comfortable modern lifestyle. Additional storage will be as simple as installing another tank.
We expect to have our first systems being trialled in 2020. From there it is only logical steps to grow to Mega Watt scale Energy Storage and beyond.
By 2025 we expect to be releasing the first of our Hydrogen Vehicle Conversion options. These will allow users to transition towards a 100% Renewable lifestyle for a fraction of the cost of a new vehicle. Users can retain the benefits of the vehicle types they know and trust.
We expect that early Conversion Systems will be standard with a twin fuel-type selection. Home-based travel can be FREE using site produced hydrogen fuel. For longer trips or in areas where hydrogen fuel is not yet available, drivers could switch over to conventional fuel. As the demand for hydrogen increases so too will the re-fuelling options. As more hydrogen becomes available emission levels will continue to drop.
It is hard to comprehend the level of vehicular pollutants in big cities throughout the world. These emissions are toxic to life! Imagine the long-term effects of breathing that in every day.
Have you ever observed the halo of smog over our Capital cities? Looking West from the Gateway Arterial, North of Brisbane, a distinctive dome can be seen. The ultimate dream is of course Zero Emissions. People are crying out for an affordable means to start making a difference now. What is needed is a realistic option allowing people to produce zero emissions where a suitable fuel supply is available and still retain their freedom of travel outside of the growing infrastructure footprint. Just imagine the positive difference, if vehicles entering city limits switched back to ZERO Emissions. Finally, a realistic, practical and affordable solution to start eliminating toxic city smog.
Providing this solution would mean creating jobs – Heaps Of Jobs!! Estimating an annual BRC Engines vehicle-conversion-uptake of 5% of the national fleet, would potentially require 22,000 full time jobs across Australia for at least twenty years – just for the labour of conversions. These figures are conservative calculations based on ABS stats and do not include any Off-Road Equipment and DO NOT include any component manufacturing!
A TOUCH OF TECH – If you please
While combustion engines are robust, versatile and very useful, they produce a range of detrimental emissions and are notoriously inefficient. For every $10 of petrol put into a passenger vehicle as little as $2.50 actually does useful work, while $7.50 is wasted as heat.
Combusting hydrogen in a conventional engine is also very inefficient, still produces toxic Nitrogen Oxides, NOx, gasses and comes with technical challenges.
Rather than using air, BRC Engines combusts hydrogen/fuel with pure oxygen producing water as the only bi-product.

Not drawing in and compressing air, eliminates the production of toxic NOx gasses and the need for half of the conventional engine cycle.
Conventional cycles = INDUCTION – COMPRESSION – POWER – EXHAUST
BRC Twin-Stroke Compression-less Cycle = POWER – DISCHARGE
To increase torque production, BRC Engines will provide a renewable medium, to harness the heat energy produce by the combusting hydrogen fuel. This medium will replace conventional “compression” . As we engage our Compression Replacement System, CRS, we will be using recycled heat energy to increase engine torque without compression losses. We believe we can take torque, power and efficiencies to new levels. We will be using this new medium to replace “n”, the body of gas, in the following equation,

Our new engine cycle is simple, very simple, but the logic is different. Adopting the BRC Engines Twin-Stroke, Compress-less Engine Cycle will mean Trade Upgrades for current tradesmen and new apprentices into at least one new trade. As we start to export our technology there will be a need for a wave of qualified people to take their skills and experience into converting countries.

What we are doing is new. While we draw on all available information, often we cannot just Google the solutions!
BRC Engines believe we have already conquered our most significant challenges by achieving an operational Proof Of Concept of our new engine cycle. While we are confident we will achieve all future Development Objectives, due to the unmapped nature of the direction we are taking we will only provide completion timeframe estimations.
