WickWorming™ Sustainable Planter Boxes 🌱💧🪱♻️

WickWorming™ was founded by Oliver White who is a secondary Geography and History teacher on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. He also has a role leading sustainability initiatives at the school.

After establishing similar garden systems at school and also teaching students about the sustainability issues relating to water conservation and food waste entering landfill, he noticed that there wasn’t a product on the market that allowed households to grow plants, conserve water and compost their food scraps all in one simple product that doesn’t require a large amount of space or even a backyard.

Living in an apartment with a deck, he decided to create a design that could do all of these things and could fit in the space that he had. After finishing the original design and receiving a lot of positive feedback, he decided to create a business that could provide this design to the community which would also hopefully encourage households to be more sustainable in their habits. 🌱💧🪱♻️

Help us launch our new custom made timber raised self-watering planter box with in-ground worm farm. We are seeking funds to upscale the production of our planter boxes in order to be able to cater to a wider market.

Our planter boxes utilise WaterUps® wicking cells to create a self-watering planter box that harnesses capillary action to save up to 80% water compared to conventional watering techniques. This means that the planter box only needs to be filled every 3-4 weeks depending on the weather.

We have also installed in-ground worm farms to our planter box which can process up to 2-3kgs of food waste per week when fully functioning. This creates a compost known as vermicompost which can be fed back into your garden bed. The juices from the worms and compost are also gravity fed into the wicking system and diluted with the water reservoir to provide valuable nutrients to your plants for increased health and growth.

This provides a simple, effective, environmentally sustainable method to grow your own vegetables and compost your food waste with minimal space. Our planter boxes are the ideal system for the family backyard, balcony, deck or to add to your existing garden. Dimensions are 1270(L)x530(W)x900(H)mm.
