The Flower Garden Cakery

The Perth Hills is a beautiful natural area that deserves more attractions and facilities for locals and visitors!  Here in Bedfordale there are currently no cafe’s, tea rooms or restaurants at all. 

Imagine yourself sitting at an outside table in an orchard setting amongst the fruit trees on a beautiful sunny day.  You are surrounded by a riot of colour in a beautiful flower garden, enjoying an indulgent spread of delicious cakes and desserts, a pot of tea or some frothy coffee.  Once you have finished your treats, you can wander through the flowers and fruit trees, go and watch your kids play in the fully fenced orchard playground or visit the orchard shop to pick up some fresh produce.

I want to create a space where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and enjoy some of life’s best pleasures; great coffee and some delicious sweet treats.

You may know me as the owner / operator of Cakes by Sarah a sucessful cake business that I have run from my home in Bedfordale for the past 8 years.

I have partnered up with local orchard, Willow Springs, to plan and construct a new food business within the orchard which will be called ‘The Flower Garden Cakery’.

Phase 1: We are allowing for a 12 month planning and approvals phase before construction begins, but in the interim I have a plan to ensure you can get your local coffee / cake fix sooner!  Funds raised will be used to purchase a mobile coffee caravan to serve locally roasted and sourced coffee and tea, cakes and other desserts and milkshakes.  The coffee van will be located on the orchard during the planning phase.  

Phase 2: Planning is

underway for the second phase of the project; to build the cakery.  As I love to use organic edible flowers to decorate my cakes, an edible flower garden will be an integral part of the plans.  Alfresco seating in the flower garden will be included.  Once construction is underway the coffee van is to be sold and the funds from the sale will be put into the fitout of The Flower Garden Cakery.

The Goal: 

All funds raised will be used to create a venue in Bedfordale where you will be able to enjoy quality locally sourced tea, coffee, beverages and sweet treats.  The budget for Phase 1 includes a new trailer van with all connections, fittings, fridges and cake display fridge and a coffee machine for the trailer.

If the goal is not met, the van will not be purchased, however all funds raised will be put into the planning and construction of The Flower Garden Cakery.

Challenges:

The Orchard is zoned Rural and restarants are permitted under the City of Armadale’s Town Planning Scheme for this zoning.  However, the construction of The Cakery will be subject to development and planning approval from the City of Armadale.  A development application will be submitted to the Council during the planning phase.
