Since its inception the Newcastle Fringe has now become a feature of the Newcastle cultural calendar. Our audience have loved having a Fringe and experiencing the wonderful acts on offer. Attendances have grown by over 20% each year and more Artists from Newcastle, Australia and the world are applying to perform.
In 2019 nearly half of the artists have previously performed at the Newcastle Fringe and nearly half of those artists are local to Newcastle. The Newcastle Fringe has been a great event for artists, especially Novocastrian artists, to enhance their careers, gain experience and meet other artists.
The Newcastle Fringe is part of helping give Newcastle a cultural reputation throughout Australia and the world and gives audiences performing art in its purest form. Something new, something left of field, something amazing, something completely different.
The Newcastle Fringe helps the local economy by booking those wonderful small to medium venues that find it difficult to compete with larger, more financial venues. Artists and audience members visit from around Australia and overseas who boost Newcastle’s accommodation, hospitality and tourism industries. We all need a place to stay, good food and who wants to miss out on Newcastle’s heritage, beaches and tourist spots. It all amounts to 5 days of several hundreds of people coming to our city.
We have not attained funding from any Local, State or Federal Government funding bodies, despite the festival being an overwhelming success and showing growth.
Your support will help us with overheads such as venue hire, technical equipment and paying staff. We aim to ensure artists and audiences alike, will experience an amazing and professionally operated festival.
We at the Newcastle Fringe enthusiastically give our time and effort in order to provide Newcastle with a wonderful event. We love what we are doing for the City of Newcastle and the artists involved.
Tickets will be between $15 – $25 per show.
