The Origin of the dream
Since I moved to Sydney from New York over 7 years ago, many people have said to me, “Where is your accent from?” When I tell them, many people go on to tell me how they dream of visiting New York sometime in their lives. Many aren’t sure if they’ll ever get there, because it is so expensive. So I want to bring New York to Sydney with my New York Diner, a contemporary American restaurant with a New York theme. People will walk in, and feel like they have stepped into New York for a visit.
What kinds of food to expect
The New York Diner will be much more than burgers and milkshakes. It will offer all-day breakfast, fresh dessert pies, homemade comfort food, steaks, seafood, pasta, homemade soups, and American biscuits.
Featured items include:
American biscuits — No, we’re not talking about sweet cookies. American biscuits are more similar to scones, but are savoury, and flakey. For breakfast, they will be offered either as a sausage biscuit sandwich, a sausage egg and cheese biscuit sandwich, or biscuits with sausage gravy. They will also come with any soup order, or some hot plate food items.
Local honey and cream honey — New York diner will be sourcing local honey from Ingleburn. It will be available to go with certain items on the menu. Specifically, it will be offered with pancake orders. Yes, we’re talking about a hot stack of fresh cooked pancakes with cream honey. Have some butter with it too.
Cosmetic changes to an existing cafe fitout will cost between $20,000 and $50,000. this amount is covered.
I need help with funding for the following:
Marketing expenses — local media and web site
Staff salaries for the first month
