From pop-up to full-scale Fromagerie

Thank you for taking the time to click on my story.

My name is Damon Firmager and I am a direct descendant of the original fromagers, french cheesemakers. My new adventure in life is to bring the provincial flavour to the modern day client that appreciates good cheese.

My story didn’t start here though. I started my career as an apprentice chef and worked in this profession for 7 years. I then moved into sales and business consulting for the next decade looking for a work/life balance. It became apparent fairly quickly that this was more of a job, than a “calling” and the nights and weekends I spent cooking for and entertaining family and friends is what brought me joy. Food brings people together and I missed bringing fine foods and dishes to people to connect over. 

On a trip to France in 2019 I walked the streets of Paris looking for Fromageries. I felt inspired and fell in love with the idea of bringing this experience to Sydney to continue my family tradition.

COVID-19 has affected all of us in different ways, unfortunately my consulting job was made redundant, however the more I think about it the more I realise that it’s the push I needed to start my own business as difficult as it may be in the current environment. 

This has led me to where I am today, tying to kick start this business and provide for my family. Through the pandemic I want to help out where I can and have started to stock, sell and promote local Aussie cheese. I look forward to bringing a bit of cheesy joy to my clients by expanding my pop-cart into a permanent store location and online.
