Climate Crisis
The United Nations gives us 11 years to limit the climate change catastrophe.
Without rapid cuts in CO2 and other greenhouse gases, climate change will have increasingly destructive and irreversible impacts on life on Earth.
What was the Global #ClimateStrike?
On 20 September 2019 millions of people around the world walked out of their workplaces and homes to join young climate strikers on the streets.
What started as a one-person protest by the 16-year-old schoolgirl, Greta Thunberg, has grown to become a global phenomenon.
Greta, now with 3.1 million Instagram and 1.3 million Twitter followers, calls herself a “climate and environmental activist with Asperger”.
In May this year she inspired children from 150 countries at over 4,000 events to take to the streets to hold politicians to account.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established over 30 years ago, yet governments around the world have been unwilling to introduce unpopular economic and social policies needed to make a dent in the production of carbon dioxide.
Now young people are calling for adults to join them in calling upon the politicians to listen to the scientists!
In support of the #ClimateStrike on 20 September 2019 businesses engaged and showed their support. In Sydney Future Super lead the corporate charge with the launch of Not Business as Usual
One of Australia’s inspirational visionaries, Atlassian co-founder, Mike Cannon-Brookes is encouraging business leaders to “step up and try to solve this problem” in the absence of effective policy at a federal level.
Do you care passionately about the future of our planet?
Whether or not you were able to join the Climate Strikes there are other ways you can lend your support.
One way is to
Plant a Tree
By the process known as photosynthesis, trees like all green plants convert carbon dioxide from the atmosphere into oxygen.
The present global rate of forest destruction is one of the reasons why planet Earth faces this crisis.
If you are an individual you can plant a tree and opt to have your name shown on the ReadyFundGo campaign page.
