A decade from here life will be very much the same – we will struggle with professional and family life, with a budget for all necessities like housing, schooling and vacations.
Some facts are well known to all of us and we hope for a better future, living our lives between happy and struggling times.
What we know for sure is that: Oceans will be acidified, full of small pieces of plastic and too warm …..sea life will be soon extinct.
Imagine this. Everything will come to its place: a nice life we always wanted, worked hard for and deserved. Every day was filled with desires to succeed, we did and now we can enjoy.
The best scenario so far. A good life is about to begin, finally, we think..
Then we go to the beach..
In the beginning, everything seems fine, clean beaches but once we dive into water…
Calming waves coming and going, leaving our thoughts empty and sorted …. we dive in….millions of sparkling and transparent pieces get stuck to our skin, our hair, we suddenly realize it’s in our nose and on our eyelids! Everywhere ..can’t be washed out.
There is no clean water. At this point, not many animals are left in the sea.
Somewhere else except Australia, the scenario is worse ..garbage is everywhere, beaches are full, waves bring plastic back to the land and people leave their trash, thinking what’s one more empty bottle, one more sunscreen tube next to all the others …..well somebody will collect it, there must be someone employed to do so?
But hey, there are not enough people to do this everyday chore because people are restless in leaving trash.
Maybe avoiding the beach would be the best?
There is a nice house of ours. Luxurious life, every step of it paid with struggle, but nothing comparing to what is about to come.
Every sip of water and every breath we take will be pricy ..get ready because hard life and struggle are yet to come.
Now is the time to change. Do little, we can do it all together. Stop consuming plastic, there are so many other products in Australia and further, packaged nicely and most of them have better quality.
Stop eating fish because fishnets are the major pollutants in the sea.
Invest some money in organizations that clean massive sea garbage and say they can, with proper help, clean 50% of the sea plastic by the end of 2025.
Turn to local producers and make better choices ..there is so much we can do today, to avoid this terrible scenario present in so many seas already.
The circular economy in Australia is offering many ways for every individual with an idea.
