Crowdfunding to Save Our Planet – Plastic Free July

As we near the end of #plasticfreeJuly, we thought it would be fitting to do a post about the environment, in particular how crowdfunding can help saving the environment.

Whether we like to admit it or not, everybody has some sense of awareness that the environment needs to be saved. We are in a critical time and if we continue going about our daily life in ignorance, we are all in trouble.

Plastic Pollution in our Oceans

In recent years, many laws have been passed help protect and preserve the environment. In fact, as the 2020 United States presidency election approaches, climate change is a priority and nearly every one’s agenda.

In particular there has been a growing movement of people recognize the urgent need to look at the health of our oceans as the devasting impact of plastic becomes clear:

  • 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans every year
  • More than a third of the world’s population of sea turtles have been found with plastic in their stomachs
  • Every minute there the equivalent of one garbage truck full of plastic is dumped into our oceans

There is no doubt that the way we are currently treating the planet is a problem, and thankfully there are people out there actually doing something about it attempting to help solve this problem and save the planet we love so dearly.

Crowdfunding is wonderful in so many ways, but it is sometimes overlooked in the potential impact it can have on the environment.

Crowdfunding platforms provide people with the opportunity to post their revolutionary ideas, products, and services where other people can back it helping provide the funds to put the idea, product, or service into market.

Many more of the campaigns on crowdfunding platforms today are for environmentally friendly and conscious products. Social entrepreneurs come to crowdfunding platforms in order to make their product a reality and people are often very willing to provide some funds for their product because of the great impact it could have on the environment if more people started using their product.

100% Plastic Free Deodorant Crowdfunding Soon

One example of a campaign looking to clean the planet as it freshens its consumers is a deodorant that is fully biodegradable from content to packaging. Not only is it a very natural deodorant that contributes to your body’s health being both aluminium and paraben free, but it is also healthy for the environment the way this company engineered it.

The company is called Coconut Matter and their founder, Diane van Zwanenberg, has pledged that the company will be 100% plastic free. They disrupt traditional single-use plastic packaging with biodegradable cardboard. Inspired to leave her daughter a healthier planet, Diane founded Coconut Matter on the simple premise of doing something good. She believes in sourcing sustainably and designing for minimal waste to build a lifestyle that truly matters.

Our team of ReadyFundGo crowdfunding consultants are delighted to be working with Diane as she prepares to use crowdfunding to launch BLISS to the world.

Below is a photograph of their biodegradable mood deodorant product line – our team have tried it and not only is it toxin free and 100% plastic free but it actually works ! If you would like to try it too sign up here to be the first in the queue it launches www.conconutmatter.org

Another environmentally conscious company is Mister RYE based in South Australia. They make straws completely out of rye eliminating the waste of single use plastic straws. They are a byproduct of the agriculture with thier new straws being 100% compostable, organic, sustainable. They are also easily reusable. Mister RYE is on a mission to save the planet one straw at a time!

It looks like their founders Marion Vigot and Alexis Branlard are spot on with their timing as at the end of last year California banned dine-in restaurants from automatically providing single use plastic straws.

Crowdfunding Plastic Free Straws

These companies along with thousands more around the world are working hard on doing thier part. Now, they just need your help to get their products into the hands of many more consumers and create an impact that matters.

They are following in the footsteps of some successful crowdfunding campaigns in this space that are making animpact already such as:

FinalStraw, based out of Los Angeles in California, is on a mission to keep plastic straws out of our oceans with the world’s first collapsible, reusable straw. One FinalStraw can save 584 plastic straws from entering our oceans and landfills every year! https://bit.ly/2Zm3rVk

Ocean Bottle, based in Norway is on a mission to reduce the number of plastic water bottles that end up in the ocean. They got over 2,700 people to back their crowdfunding campaign https://bit.ly/2K0i9vM
