Hi my name is Evan and my wife Gail and I fell in love with Tiny Houses on wheels from watching the shows on our local television station from HGTV. Since then we have researched Tiny House living and have decided we want to live and promote a simpler lifestyle as the happy choice.
From our research we love the many textures and materials everyone has used to build the houses but – almost all we have seen that are around 8 meters (26ft) long are 5.5 to 6.8 tons in weight.
This has posed 3 problems for us here in Australia:
1) The laws applying to building any trailer with a mass over 4.5 Ton have a lot more rules and hoops to jump through to be allowed to be registered,
2) We could never afford to buy an imported and modified Dodge Ram or Chevy truck to tow it let alone afford the fuel. And we could not rely on having a spare $3000-4000.00 to pay someone else to move it every time we wanted, or had, to move, and,
3) I have bad arthritis and could not possibly crouch to get around in the bedroom.
Our solution is to design a Tiny home that is engineer designed, certified, and drawn, that can hold its own with house building regulations, and can be towed by a normal SUV with a towing capacity of only 3.5 ton. It is our hope to start building these Tiny Houses not just for ourselves but also for others as a way of living that is less of a footprint on environment and making a living as well.
We have designed a Tiny Home that can rise up to a full 2 story, for ease of walking around in the bedroom when parked and lower to only 2.8 meters high for towing.
We thought it would be a world first until the guys in NYC released theirs in August 2018 although we know ours will be a lot lighter for towing.
I have done some rough drawings and a very rough artist’s impression along with a material list.
Our hope is to use these Excel drawings to give an architect a good idea of what the goal is.
We have launched this first phase of the project to raise $6000 (AUD) needed to pay the professionals to do complete certified drawings and design.
My wife and I would really appreciate your help in bring this project to life and we hope we have designed rewards to make it worth your while to do so.
