We have great libraries in Australia, and we want to share our expertise and good fortune with library professionals from the emerging areas in the Asia-Pacific region. Please help us raise funds for at least one library person to attend Asia-Pacific Library and Information Conference (APLIC) next year. We want to give someone the opportunity to hear about the amazing work libraries in Asia-Pacific region are doing so they can better assist their communities back home. They will join 800 library and information professionals at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre from 30 July – 2 August 2018.
The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is willing to provide free conference registration (worth nearly $2,000) for up to 10 participants from emerging nations, but this still leaves a gap of approximately $3,000 per person for flights, accommodation and meals. Your donation will help provide a library colleague with a rewarding professional experience. They will learn how to help children read, students find information and seniors become digitally literate. You will be making a real difference to the lives of many people who don’t have the advantages we do in Australia.
